Sometimes there is so much of visual interest in a place that it's easy to become overwhelmed at the options presented. This spot with its forested lot, dappled light, adirondack chair, adorable garden shed, vibrant roses, blooming window box, swaying ornamental grasses, and good company was overwhelming to say the least. It was also 100 degrees.

Here is the pastel I created en plein air. It was a true study in editing and in making greens interesting. When I had looked at my previous postings I thought it was time for some architecture. Blue is my favorite color. My friends' home has it everywhere. I was in heaven for so many reasons!

Deadlines = Productivity ;)

When it rains it pours. Two new galleries are interested in my work and both asked for a collection of work for April. Of course the answer is YES and so it's time to get busy. (More info to come on these galleries and what they're showing later next week.)

Always one to paint in waves of productivity, these six worked up rather quickly after many misses and pieces that are on the 'to be reworked' pile. This weekend I hope to do some larger pieces.

And there's the "Great Frame Up" show at Gallery9. My frame is a challenge, but I'm up to the task!

Been busy here working and painting and enjoying my family. It's mid-June and school is out and the weather is just lovely. Feeling in my element! Wish there were more daylight hours and that this time of year would last for always.....

Painting-wise pastels have been my medium of choice lately and The Preservation Framer, a great shop in North Attleborough, offered to showcase my work for a spell. It's great to be represented in the town where you live and also support small business in its lovely downtown. (My alter-ego, Downtown Manager with Friends of Norwood Center loves this fact!)

Three pastel studies

Here are three pastels I did recently. All are small, approximately 5x5", and all have a sort of overcast feel to them.

I created these small studies to experiment with using new lower chroma colors and to play with the intensity of the colors in the pictorial space.

Mind you, these foggy, quirky light source pieces are a bugger to photograph. In person they read much better. Photographing my pieces is something I'm constantly working to improve.
